Mr Scruff

Date: 20th October 2007

Venue: Glasgow QMU

I have seen Scruff before, but decided to just put him in a post and not a gig review. That probably wasn’t fair, as well as making great quirky albums he is first and foremast a DJ, well above the likes of Fatboy Slim and the likes, but as is not commercial as the afore mentioned Mr Cook.

The gig is just a huge party, the crowd on the night were really into it which added to the party atmosphere. Scruff’s trade mark tea stand (doubling as the merchandising stand) is in full swing serving his cups of tea.

The DJ set was very eclectic, goes through a full gambit of tunes from hip-hop, to dub, Drum n’ Bass to electro and of course we get a few off scruffs own productions thrown in at key points during the night.

If you are familiar with Scruffs album artwork etc, you would be impressed with the usual band of simplistic yet hysterical images as messages like “big yourself up Glasgow”, “Incoming Bass alert” and “Wobble those legs” and flashed across the screens on each side of the stage. Scruff obviously approves of the crowd reaction to his set judging by the huge grin on his face throughout the show.

Get Scruff as a resident DJ somewhere in Glasgow and I would be out every week.

I have said it once and I’ll say it again….

Can’t Get Enough Of That Wonderful Scruff”
