Dinosaur Jnr.

Date: 27th August 2007
Venue: Liquid Rooms
I will admit is at the (what I thought was a) shambles of a last Gig, I didn’t have high hopes for J Mascis and the boys, thankfully I was proven Wrong.
Once more J is standing in front of a huge stack of Marshall Amps, and when the first chord is struck, I think the first few rows at the gig were blown back a few feet…. IT WAS THAT FUCKING LOUD!!!!!
Like when I see Teenage Fanclub, the crowd at Dino Jr are of a certain age, a band from peoples youth that they can’t let go of, and quite rightly so. I never got to see them in my youth and didn’t like them at the last performance, but it was good to see them at what was probably the same quality of show from back in the day (its great that all these bands from my youth that split up before I saw them are getting back together, woo-hoo)
I would like to emphasise one point the…… J-Mascis is undoubtedly one of the laziest vocalists I have ever heard, he was so lazy that during “Fell The Pain” he could even be bothered to sing the whole of each line in the versus and choruses, now that’s Slacker mentality at its finest!
I will be honest, My Jr knowledge mainly centres around the “Where You Been” album, a classic if you ask me, I ended up having to buy it on CD import in early 2000 coz nowhere appeared to stock it (I had it on Vinyl before that folks) but it was worth the hugely over inflated price.
The set was taken from the back cat so I will be first to admit that there were tracks I didn’t know, but there was no mistaking the final song of the night…… Freak Scene, all of the crowd turned into there 1990’s persona and started jumping about mad.
We didn’t get “Start Choppin” played, but hey one step at a time
