As Guy Incognito exclusively revealed a few months ago, Grand Central Record, his favorite record label has gone. Guy was distraught as lots of his favorite artists were on this label and he was worried that he may never hear from them again. THANK FECK HIS FEARS WERE PUT TO REST!!!

Andy Turner, AKA Aim first graced my stereo with his debut on GC records, “Cold Water Music” a mix of funk, soul hip hop and breaks. A damn fine album it was too, he later brought out “Hinterland” and “Means of Production”, a collection of his early releases, all great, all done by Andy and a selection of Vocalists including GC’s very own Kate Rodgers, Niko plus hip Hop Legend Dimond D.

Since the demise of GC, Andy has brought out his own Label and released his new album “Flight 602″ on it. This was the tour to promote it, myself and Marc thought we would check it out..

Bare in mind that Andy does all the studio work himself, but live he had a full band to recreate all the samples, beats and loops that go into his tunes. And what a band, the very talented (and well sexy dancin’) Niko does his vocals, he has a drummer, bass, keyboard, Apple Powerbook, , percussion, trumpet and sax all manned and in full effect to give an excellent live show. Andy himself plays guitar and percussion and a bit of keyboard, but is very much a background member and lets his fellow band mates hog the limelight.

They opened with “Walking home through the park” from Flight 602 but gave us an impressive array from all the previous long player’s as well. My two favorites “Just Passin’ Through” and “Let the Funk Ride” were part of the set to my delight and Niko also preformed my favorite of her solo stuff “You’re My Favorite Music”. (I had been shouting for this all night so I like to pretend she sung it for me”.

You can’t flaw the band, they recreate the sound of the records perfectly and have the crowd boogieing on down for the duration. Top night, this is the second time i have Seen Aim live, and hopefully it won’t be the last.

Now I just hope the rest of GC follow suite!!!!!!
