A bill to break the bank.

As my new luxury pad does not have its power supplied by Scottish Power, I thought I better notify them to get my final bill, it came in during the week there at an amount so astonishing, I felt I had to rant about it.

You ready for this?

You Sure?

My final bill posted to me from Scottish power was……………………… (DRUM ROLL PLEASE)………… 2p

Thats right, it cost Scottish power more money to send me the bill than what the bill actually was. So I decided to phone them to clear the debts (thought it would be embarassing to be have my credit rating affected over such a pitiful amount). I had seriosly though about sending a 2 pence piece via the post but it does say on thier bills “Do not send cash”.

So when I phone Bainy’s favorite employer I got a very nice girl taking my call.

“Yes Mr Incognito, how can I help you” she politely asked.

“Yes, hello, I would like to settle up my account please” I replied

“Ok, let me get your account details and balance up…… ok … you owe us …… um, you owe us 2p”

“Yes I know, can I pay by credit card?”

“Um, its only 2p!!!”

“Yep, I know but I don’t like the idea of being in debt to you” I stated.

“Hold on a minute Mr Incognito, I need to check something” and then the phone went silent for a couple of minutes before my slightly embarrassed customer service agent came back on the line. “I was just check with my supervisor Mr Incognito, I didn’t think we would bother with such a low amount , but turns out we need to, sorry”

There was no need to appologise and hey if I owe them the money, I am happy to pay… but it just seems a bit daft that the administration costs of collecting this payment far far far outweighed the cost of the payment itself, doesn’t seem like good business sense to me.

Still I kept a copy of the bill for comedy reasons.

and if I go hungry this week, I know who I am blaming!!!!

When we moved from our previous house to our current one, I had to cancel with NTL. After a couple of months of wrangling, they agreed to settle up the money that they owed me, and sent me a cheque.

A month later I got a bill charging me a nominal amount for the cheque they had sent me…..
