Charity records

I have suggested in my work that we make a good cd and bad cd. Every one in the office pays £1 towards comic relief and they tell me a favourite tune of theirs and a tune that make them cringe when they hear it. On Friday all of the names will be put into a lucky draw and people will win either the good cd or the bad one. (Ok maybe I am slightly infringing on some copyright laws, but IT’S FOR CHARITY!).

For a laugh, I suggested “Feed the World” for my worst song to which i was told I was “sick” for thinking such a thing!!! SO after that, I took it seriously!!!

So you are a building firm who volunteer to make a homeless shelter for the charity “Shelter” . As it’s for Charity do you do a sub-standard job?? Not give it the same level of professionalism that you would give a paying customer??

Well that what I think happened with that song!! In my opinion, the artists did not bring their “A” game to the table. Even by 80s standards it is trash. All the wealth of talented song writers involved in that project and that’s the best they could come up with?!?!?! I am glad they did not product test it to the starving nations before it got released or I am sure they would have banned it. Now I am not discounting what that record achieved, it was for a really worth cause, but come on, you could have given us something better than that! OF COURSE IT WAS GOING TO SELL, IT WAS FOR A GOOD CAUSE, but that’s no excuse for putting the message out to people, badly!!

Bands have been writing good songs about the inequities around the world for years, why couldn’t they have taken a leaf out of their books???

I mean, if any of you own that record, can you honestly say that it is a good song, or do you own it because of what it was for?
