The Departed
First up, I did not realise that this movie was re-make till 15 minutes in to it. In Hollyweird’s current trend of making a foreign movies for an American audience, this is a remake of the Hong Kong movie Mou gaan dou (Infernal Affairs) of which yours truly is a fan of, so once I realised this, I thought to myself,” This film better be as good, if not better than the original”
Luckly my exceptations were met. I really enjoyed this movie. Being a Scorsese gangster type movie, you can expect the level of brutallity shown to us in Goodfellas. But there are some amzing performances though out. DiCaprio is excellent in it (think Basketball Diaries excellent), Nicholson is insanely excellent as you would expect, Damon is good, Martin Sheen is good, but despite having more of a supporting cast role Mark Wahlberg is brilliant as the wise cracking, take no shit Sgt. Dignam.
The movie gets a tad confusing in the middle, but stick with it, at all makes sense in the end.
A def see for people that love their Cops and Robbers movies!!!

I totally agree. I thought it was awesome. I was pretty exhausted by the end due to the twisting and turning and my little mind being impressed by such a large well known cast (which is usually a total disaster, A La Black Dahlia!). I came out raving about it….well done Francis, it’s been a while, but as always, worth the wait!
PS Any thoughts as to what was in the sealed envelope?
