Nick Naylor doesn’t hide the truth. . . he filters it.
Been a while since I had been to the flicks, so myself and Mr Menoni popped along to CineUGCworld type place. Not much out this week, so after scanning the listing I suggested this movie.
The main character, Nick Naylor (Aaron Eckart) is a tobacco lobbiest, so naturally he is evil as helps in the deaths of thousands of people every day and justifies this by telling everyone that it “Pay’s the morgage”. But he is such a likebale guy that you will end up rooting for him, and feel bad about it after the movie finishes!!
The comedy is very satirical and quite dark in parts, but very well done. I especially like Nick’s lunch dates with the Merchants Of Death, or MOD for short, featuring Bobby Jay Bliss(David Koechnerr) a lobbiest for guns and Polly Bailey (Maria Bellow) a lobbiest for alcohol. They like to have discussions about who’s product has the highest death rate!!!
Other great performances from Sam Elliot, William H. Macy and J.K. Simmons make this a great film to see, even more so with the amount of crap that is out at the moment!!
Go see this, if your Conscious will let you laugh at this movie.
