Terror fear over Clash fan’s song
You lucky, lucky people, 2 posts in one day!!!!
I read about this story in the press this week.
A phone salesman was hauled off a London-bound plane by police after his taste in music aroused terrorism fears.
Harraj Mann, 23, asked a taxi driver to play The Clash’s London Calling through the vehicle’s stereo.
But the cabbie rang police after he heard the song which includes the line: “War is declared and battle come down”. Police said Mr Mann, from Hartlepool, was released without charge after his arrest on board a Bmi plane at Durham Tees Valley Airport.
Durham Police said a security check revealed he did not pose a threat.
I never thought I’d see the day when a man could be questioned under the anti-terrorism laws because of his choice in music!!!!!! I mean what happened if he was listening to something like Rage Against the Machine, would they have just shot him on sight?????
Ok, ok the report does go on to say that “overall impression” that Mr Mann gave, arroused the taxi drivers suspision. But come on, I am sure Mr Mann was just trying to improve the taxi driver’s limited music taste!!!! How dare he!
Has it come to this, have we become so paranoid that we judge people on their music tastes???
I think people that bought the Chico single should be treated in this manner, as what sane grown up purchases a trach like that?!?!?!?!?!
Read the full article here and i congradulate Mr Mann for having a good music taste.

I’m waiting for the day I’m arrested as a terrorism suspect. Seriously, if the police read what I write for long enough, they could probably come up with something. I mean, it’s not like it’s hard these days…

What other songs could be potential arrest music? Prodigy’s Firestarter?

To be fair the full article says:
“it was not just the music Mr Mann requested, but the ‘overall impression’ he gave that aroused the taxi driver’s suspicion”
Clearly the whole story is not being told and its highly unlikely this has happened simply because the bloke played a Clash song.
Overall its good that citizens remain vigilant about threats and additionally it seems Mr Mann has sought out the media to try and punt his story.
