I decided to treat myself to a new PS2 game over this festive season, so purchased Rockstars latest offering “The Warriors“.

It is based on Walter Hill’s 1979 movie also cunningly known as “The Warriors“. A worth while movie to check out if you have not seen it already.

Like the film the game is based on fictional gang culture in New York in the 70s. You are the Warriors from Coney Island you are out to defend your turf and increase your gang’s rep by any means necessary. Namely kicking the crap out of any other gangs that disrespect you and spray painting your gang name everywhere.

Being a Rockstar game with an 18 certificate you can expect fowl language, gratuitous violence and bloody good fun. As I am over the age of 18, I feel I am mature enough to see this as just a game and have no intention of forming my own gang and going around finding other gangs to fight with, stealing car radios, mugging people and spray painting my logo everywhere. However, GI does not support parents who buy this game for their kids cause its a harmless ‘puter game then act all shocked when they here the language and see the violence that contained with in and then complain about it!!!!!!!

After a shit day at work, there is nothing quite like putting Warriors on and smashing peoples faces off walls, bear in mind that this is self defence cause given half the chance, they would do the same thing to you!

I like this game in the same way I am a fan of the GTA games, to me it is just escapism, the game is stylish and above all else, its fun. Maybe not everyones cup of tea, but I expect hours of entertainment from it.
