Doom
Hell Breaks Loose
Right, this is another one of these “there is no chance that this movie will be a classic” films, but it is isn’t a terrible movie either.
There have been terrible computer game based movies such as Mario Brothers, Mortal Kombat and the awful awful Street Fighter. Although No Damn Goods inspirational speech to his men before the final conflict is side splitting stuff! ![]()
Anyways, back to Doom. Ok its not the most original movie, and borrows heavily from flicks like Aliens, but Marc who is a fan of the games and was actually playing on his PSP before the movie, though it did the game some justice, especially the bit with the BFG (I am sure Doom computer game fans will know what I mean).
I did enjoy it, it is very much a all brawn and no brains flick, but it is good Cinema Junk Food and worth checking out.
I did get a bit annoyed at the 1st person shooter part as i felt it was very ” jittery”, but hey it didn’t last too long. It’s definatley a guy flick and if you (like me) enjoyed the fist Resident Evil movie, then it is a good bet that you will enjoy this too.

For games as movies, you could do a lot worse than http://www.roosterteeth.com/home.php
I’ve only tried Red vs. Blue and PANICS, but both are amusing. The downside? Watching them in order helps, but RvB is now on season 4 and if you want to see all the earlier seasons I think you need to buy the DVDs or subscribe.
