Saw II

Saw 2

Oh Yes, There Will Be Blood

Right, as it was Halloween, it was only fitting to take in a horror movie. Unfortunately there was not much choice, it really just boiled down to Saw II

Saw was a movie that kind of unsettled me when I seen it last year as it was quite a sick concept with brutal death scenes that, despite the hamy acting of Cary Elwes I actually enjoyed. Plus it had a killer twist in it!!

I expected much the same with the sequal, and it did not disappoint, right from the opening you have the uneasiness of the sick and twisted “games” that the villan has his victims do. I flinched at quite a few of them myself and I am normally quite good at watching this kind of thing.

Saw was originally compared to Fincher’s classic Se7en when it came out. This was unfair as I found the only similarities are the rather brutal ways people are killed. Despite my view that Se7en is the superior movie, if you look at Saw and Saw II without comparing it to Se7en, you will see that they stand out on their own.

Saw II does not take the place of my favorite movie that I saw on Halloween, it is still the orginal Japanese version of Ring but Saw II was not a disappointing Halloween experience. Enjoy if you think you have the stomach for it.
