American Dad
The misadventures of Stan Smith and his wacky family. Stan: Stan works for the CIA, and is constantly on the look-out for terrorists. He loves his family and will do anything to protect them, and his country.
Last night saw BBC2 show the 1st episode of Seth McFarlane’s new animation “American Dad”. Those of you that are unfortunate to not know, Seth McFarlane is the genius behind the “Freakin’ sweet” show “Family Guy“.
I am a huge fan of Family Guy, although I am a Simpsons patriot at heart, Family Guy leaps over the lines that The Simpsons won’t so sometimes has me in more fits of laughter than The Simpsons.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I did enjoy American Dad, especially the bit where God was on the phone to George W Bush asking that he stop telling the American people that everything he says comes direct from God, then God has to hang up the phone to take a call from Dick Chaney and starts of by saying “Yes Sir”.
So as you can see (those of you that have seen Family Guy) the satire is very similar, but I felt there is alot more similarities as well. Both families have a talking pet in them that has a crush on the mother, in Family Guy it’s brian the talking dog, in American dad its Klaus the talking goldfish. Even the layout of the houses look similar!!!!!
This was only the first episode, so I will give it a chance and see if it gets better. I am more looking forward to the 4th Season of the superior Family Guy (cancelled, my ass!!!!) But I am sure I will continue to get Laughs from American Dad.
Oh and for those of you that haven’t seen Family Guy, its on directly before American Dad on BBC2 on Saturday Nights, 10.05pm!!!!
