A History of Violence

A History of Violence

Tom Stall had the perfect life… until he became a hero.

Ok, for his birthday Robin, myself, Enzo and Marc went to see this flick. I like some Cronenberg movies like eXistenZ, The Fly, Scanners and of course Videodrome. However Skivi is a big, big fan of his work and if memory serves has actually met the great man himself.

This movie is not like what you are led to believe it will be like if you have seen the trailler for it. This is a good thing, more surprises. I enjoyed it, ok its not the most fast paced movie ever made, but it definitely is interesting and well made, and just a tad brutal with the killings. Not really sure about casting Viggo Mortensen as the main star as i don’t know how believable I found him, but I let it pass. Maria Bello, Ed Harris and William Hurt are all great in their roles. It is one worth seeing.

But its Rant time……………………….

The cinema came with a new feature that is becoming more and more common in cinemas every where, its called “Audience Commentary” and to be honest, is the most annoying thing to happen to movie theatres EVER.

At no point in this film did I feel we required a laugh track, but hey, three female pains in the arses sitting up at the back found it necessary to piss off everyone else who was trying to enjoy the film.

Thats bad enough but they also proceeded to chat through the movie as well. I am pretty sure that before the movie starts there is a sign that comes up on the screen that says “No Talking” and unless these idiots were visually impaired (I know for a fact that they were not) they would have seen the sign as well. Ok, if you feel the need to talk at least bloody well whisper, the rest of the audience don’t give a rats ass what you think or whats on your mind, why the hell did you come to the cinema in the first place if all you were going to do was talk?!?!? Surely you should have saved the £5.45 admission money and just went to the pub instead?!?!?!

Ok, so you only came to see Viggo in the flick, but looks like he wanted to try a new role in which he was not fighting Orcs in middle earth, if you can’t understand what the movie is about, don’t punish everyone for your stupidity by ruining their enjoyment of it!!!!

Cinema’s should start taking more active roles to silence these foul creatures before they ruin it for everyone.

Rant over

True cretins. I went to see Return of the King four times and each time there were folk that felt they had to share their gobshite with everyone else.

It’s not murder if they’re ignorant turds, right?
