Wolf Creek

It been a while since I have been to the flicks, so as two former Australian adventurers, myself and Robin though we would go see this movie………

Wolf Creek

30,000 people in Australia are reported missing each Year
90% are found within a Month
10% are never found

First up if you are planning to go a 1 year back packing trip round the land of Oz, maybe you shouldn’t watch this flick before going, then again it may be good at showing you the do’s and dont’s of backpacking round Oz.

This movie will unfairly be compared to something like “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. It shouldn’t in my view. The story follows 2 young British Girls and 1 helpful Ozzy Fella who has offered to take them from Broome to Cairns, via Wolf Creek, the site of one of the largest Meteor hits in the world. And wouldn’t you know it, their car won’t start!!!!!!! :(
Usual GI rules, no spoilers. I will say this though, there are a couple of scenes that are not for the squeamish as they are quite brutal. Nevertheless, this is a good movie, it has a very seedy look to it, the characters are developed to the point that you actually care if they live of die, and it looks as if it was accomplished on a modest budget as there are no OTT special effects.

Based on the infamous “Backpacker Murders” committed along the Hume Highway by Ivan Milat between 1989 and 1992 and also based on the Falconio case in the Northern Territory of Australia this is a movie that is well worth seeing if you think your nerves and stomach are up for it ;)
GI :D
