THX 1138

ok, so I have admitted that I have not seen every great movie that was ever made, I am trying to rectify that. With that in mind, the last time I was at Skivi’s noticed that he had Lucas’s first movie “THX 1138” so i thought I would check it out.

So this is Lucas’s “Chilling exploration of the future”. Well if it is “chilling” in the sense that it is so feckin’ boring that it could make a coma patient fall into an even deeper coma, then concider me “chilled” to the bone.

In fact I was so “chilled” I felt the need to get up and make some toast and read books without stopping or pausing the movie. I eventually became so “chilled” that I felt the need to stop the movie and go to my bed early!!!!!!

This is just such a boring movie that tries to be arty. I am sure if I saw it before the original trilogy, it may have put me off ever watching Star Wars!!!!!!

I appreciate Skiv lending me this, but it really was not my cup of tea! I can see where movies like “Equalibrium” got there ideas from, but naw, not an enjoyable film, I wish I could get those precious minutes I wasted watching it back!

I must appologise to Kaz as she suggest that i veg out watching some class movies like “The Big Lebowski” or “Zoolander” or “Virgin Suicides” but NO, GI decides to tarnish his DVD player with the poor excuse for a Sci-fi movie!

Bad show, I want my memory erased to delete this flick from my mind!

At least you didn’t pay to see it! I saw 9 Songs at the cinema and walked out after about 20 mins. Or maybe it was 2 hours - time dragged so much it was hard to tell. On the plus side, I didn’t pay to see that either ;-)
    Other tedious films to avoid:
    Bad Leuitenant
    Jackie Brown
    Titanic

OK Pusscat, I will give you Bad Leuitenant as I lost interest in that movie very quickley and have not seen more than 20 minutes of it, and even that 20 minutes was too much. I will also give you Titanic, as I jave no idea what possesed you to see that one! It is on my “I will never watch this movie” alongside Catwoman and Pearl Harbour!

But I must disagree with the Jackie Brown choice, that is one class movie and here’s a piece of triva that good ol’ Ajay told me about it. Michael Keaton plays the same character in Jackie Brown as he does in Out Of Site!!!!!

That’ll teach you not to listen….
Out of Site? What’s that movie like then? The name reminds me of a Michael Keaton film i know called Out of Sight….sounds the same eh?
    ;-)

Actually Kaz you and me are thinking of 2 different movies. You are thinking of Out Of Sight with Jenny Big Ass Lopez in it where she plays an under cover fed.

I am thinking of Out Of Site, the film is pretty much the same but takes place on a construction site!!!!

The Avengers was the poorest excuse for a film I have ever seen (and this coming from someone who is massively indiscriminate in the films he watches)

I found that the original version of THX-1138 was a very good low-budget Sci-Fi movie. I know that Lucas did a “Special Edition” by adding the usual bucket loads of unneccessary effects and adding larger crowd scenes.

I really liked the claustrophobic feel you get from the film, loads of low ceilings and dingy corridors. Part of it looks like it was filmed in an underground car park.

I can understand why people don’t like it, it’s a very slow moving film and many scenes seem quite pointless.

If you want another Sci-Fi movie which moves at a snails pace then check out Solaris, both the original (4 hour long) version and the more recent with George Clooney. I liked both but it wasn’t easy viewing.

I’m a bit more choosy than mrBen about films but I’d have to agree with him regarding The Avengers. It took everything good about the series and ignored it.
