Computer Game Censorship
Once again the good folk at Rockstar are under “attack” from prudes with too much time on their hands. Apparently some Dutch computer fan has made a mod for GTA:San Andreas known as the “Hot Coffee” mod which allows characters to have sex. Having only got the PS2 version of this game, which for the record is the best game I have ever played, mods are not available for.
Can I start by stating the obvious, GTA games are given an Adult certificate in this country of 18. At the age of 18 you can fight for your country, vote, consume alcohol, smoke cigerettes, get married, and yes, even have sex, but it is felt that you should not be allowed to play certain video games, that is just ludicrous. Ok so the age limit in USA is slightly different, but maybe they should be looking at that instead of trying to ban the games.
Lets not forget the Parent and retailler responsabilty. Rockstar make games for the more mature gamer, this has always been the case, they don’t try and hide the fact, there advertising comercials are shown after the water shed. Computer games aren’t just for children, we are the genaration that grew up playing computer games first, I for one did not plan to stop playing them once I hit 18!
Here is the quote the really pissed me off from Hilary Clinton
“There is no doubting the fact that the widespread availability of sexually explicit and graphically violent video games make ths challenge of parenting much harder “
NEWS FLASH: PARENTING IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE EASY!!!!!!
My nephews have a PS2 and although I will let them borrow games, they are not allowed any of my 18 certificate games, if I catch them with any of them, then they will be banned from borrowing any off me, they understand this. Parents need to realise that computer games ain’t just for kids anymore and start taking an active role in what their kids play, same as what DVDs and Video they watch.
Man, start taking reponsability for your family and stop trying to target those that make games for people well above the age of the children that you bought the games for!!!!
Games are escapism, nothing more, nothing less.
If Rockstar are prosecuted it will be us moving one more step closer to Fortress Britian.
