Pixies headline Leeds/Reading
On my journey into work this morning I had forgotten to put a fresh battery into my Mini Disc player and was stuck listening to Radio 1. Chris Moyles is normally a guy that makes me laugh, and there is nothing really wrong with that. But a comment he made this morning kinda bugged me.
It has been announced that the main headliners at Reading and Leeds festival this year will be Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden and the Pixies. I think that is a good spread for headliners! Moyles went on to say that he found it strange that the Pixies were picked for this as he didn’t think they were headline material. I personally disagree with this, I thought it was a disgrace that the Strokes were higher on the bill than the Pixies at last year’s Neds In the park. The amount of bands the exist because of the Pixies is unbelievable, but I want your opinions kids are the Pixies headline material? if not why not? and if so, why?

To put the legends Iron Maiden on the same footing as Foo Fighters and The Pixies is an absolute and total disgrace. The Maiden have sold more albums than these two ‘rock’ bands combined. As a live presence Iron Maiden are also a class above these two joke bands. Anyone who has seen 200,000 headbangers rise to salute Eddie and sing The Number Of The Beast will be disgusted that Foo Fighters and the Pixies are mentioned in the same breath as Iron Maiden.

Reading used to be THE alternative festival. Pixies are THE alternative band, they should be the headline act. You wouldn’t have the Foo Fighers if you didn’t have the Pixies.
Why are Maiden at it? They should stick to the Download and Rock Am Ring type festivals. I agree with G.I, it is a disgrace that the Strokes were billed above the Pixies at T in the Park.
The Pixies should have a Tribute festival where all the bands that owe their careers play to Pixies fans for free!!!!

Whats all this crap with the bands from yesterday. The Foo Fighters Rule. These other bands are old news man. They should be on some classic rock festival where all the oldies could get in with thier pensioners discounts.
Leave the festivals for the new bands man, these oldies have had there 10 minutes of fame.

To Youth of Today, are you on drugs?, granted the Foo Fighters are good, but not a patch on the Pixies. If it wasn’t for bands like the Pixies or the Joy Division’s of the “olde” world, bands like the Foo Fighters and all these other media processed bands would not exist.
Rock on………………my arse…………………..

Wow Gasmetre, I guess you are an old fossil
and think that music was music “back in the day” and all these bands are just copying old shit. No way, Bands like Slipknot, Foo Fighters, Marlyn Manson, Linkin Park are what music has evolved into, and thankfull improved on all that old stuff that you listened to “back in the day.”
You know what they say Gramps…….
IF THE MUSIC IS TOO LOUD, THEN YOU’RE TOO OLD!!!

The Pixies invented the loud Chorus quite Verse idea that most bands use today. Because they don’t tour anymore, festivals are the only chance you get to see them. They definately are Headline material!

Does Gasmetre even know who the Foo Fighters are? He sounds like a Status Quo fan to me.
